Gold spot price is falling. Are you buying? I bought a new gold coin or two, and there’s nothing in particular that makes it a good choice. A recent visit to a local coin shop has me thinking a bit differently about buying and selling in general, though. Also swapped some gold and sent some gold to the wrong state. Gather ’round, friends. I’m about to tell you what kind of show I’m running here. 1. I agree that the portrait of the Queen on Canadian coins leaves much to be desired and it often comes marred on Canadian bullion gold as it does on British bullion. Tax implications here in Canada rule out the AGE and Krugerrand, so the Buffalo and Perth Mint gold are my go to bullion coins. However, the RCM has produced a huge number of exquisite, proof, “made for collector” gold coins, that are available at bullion prices on the after market and which have low mintages. Many are also 5-9’s pure. These make interesting collections with their varieties, but really are only available to Canadian collectors at these bargain prices. Most of the world are unaware of these coins.

    1. The variations on the sugar maple leafs (leaves?) are very nice. I wouldn’t be able to keep them in the assays, but I agree on the RCM quality. Cheers!

  2. What can be done with the gold in reserves like in the Fort Knox in America? Only to sell it. How much cost taxpayers to protect the gold? Fortunes. To sell the gold today spares to pay for the protection tomorrow. The gold market is going to crash and i defend my word against any economist past or present. Russia could go bankrupt and end the war in Ukraine. I think we live in an horrible world, and I was said it is the only one we have. I have to keep trying.

  3. I like britannia’s style wise over kangaroos. Although Perth mint makes good products. As for the queen, she shows up on so many different coins, it’s become an issue.

  4. The prices I’ve been seeing lately doesn’t make the Britannia and Philharmonic cheaper than the Maple or any other coin, the most expensive coin is the eagle. Prices have changed and the prices have leveled out about the same. A harmonic will cost you about the same as a Britannia or maple.

  5. Maples are the best. I’m in the UK but can’t stand Britannia covered in the Queen, union Jack 🤢. The Queen on the maples reminds me of cartoon so I’m fine with it. Plus the Leaf it’s self on radials is a thing of beauty!

    1. The capital gains tax exemptions aren’t enough to win you over? I’m a huge fan of Canadian Maple Leafs either way. Cheers!

  6. Do you see there being any value added to collectors, in owning gold coins with the Queens head on it, if it were the last year she served as Queen? It’s something I’ve wondered as a newby for a while.

  7. If the mint ever starts churning out gold again, you’ll probably be able to get it with zero premium. Banks might accept foreign coins in exchange too.

  8. The Royal Mint 1 kilo queens beast 500 pound silver coin is a gem of the Royal Mint.

  9. im about to buy the 2022 royal arms and its gonna cost about £1600, its about £55 more than a britannia over here, some places even 100 more, just managed to get the gold queens beasts completer, like you i put my gold coins on black and its as perfect a coin i’ve seen! just changed capsules to ultra perfect fit and they make the gold look so much better than normal lighthouse capsules.

  10. You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could; you didn’t stop to think if you should.

    1. @2 is 1 But there’s 4 quarters. Do two of them represent England or something like that? Watching from my phone, so I can’t tell which is which.

  11. From England the queen won’t be alive long. Is it worth buying one or two coins to keep for the future. I can’t stack don’t have the funds
